The Defeat of Flood Geology by Flood Geology

Click here for an article in the "National Centre for Science Education"

An interesting article for an ex Young Earth guy like me...:-)

The all encompassing world to the eyes of a small pocket of humanity could have very well been flooded in Noah's 600th year. It is all about perspective. Without rapid travel and communication, a great flood could have wiped out humanity as they knew it in Noah's 600th year. (I would take Noah's described lifespan as a representation of a tribe's lineage) That flood could have represented an ice age, or a melting, as told by cultures that overcame it over hundreds of years. I wish we could demystify the parables and try to hear these stories as the Aboriginals tell them. There is a Rosetta Stone effect that occurs when you hear Native stories and compare them to some of the Bible stories.

I have an encyclopedia of creation and flood myths from around the world. Really interesting stuff. It is sad I think when myth gets confused with history. There is also a line of distinction to be drawn between "myth", and "mythos", that often gets over looked.

Very interesting article! The young-earth creationists really need to come up with complex solutions to explain the puzzle of geography with so many pieces that don't fit their worldview. I guess as time goes on YEC research will be a very lonely place.

I would still like to know a) where all the water came from b) where all the water went c) how an ark could float on top of heaving waters under which mountain ranges are forming and falling (i.e., massive g-forces and bubbles of gas and foam) d) what the air was like to breath as the volcanoes and disturbed gases were released into the air.

I was never able to reconcile these while still allowing for a "natural" salvation arc vehicle. In other words, without resorting to a miracle to explain how the arc and its contents were still in one piece through out this judgment of the world.
