How to Tell the Difference

So how did Jonah get out of the belly of the whale? I think I would have run around in circles until I was pooped out.

A bit off topic, but I'm reminded of Kent Hovind's summary of creation and evolution's order of development:

Creationism
1. Earth before sun
2. Oceans before land
3. Light before sun
4. Land plants first
5. Fruit trees before fish
6. Fish before insects

Evolution
1. Sun before earth
2. Land before oceans
3. Sun before light
4. Marine life first
5. Fish before fruit trees.
6. Insects before fish

Looking at the creationism list, I try to imagine what was I thinking when Hovind was trying to convince me that the earth came before the sun. He gave some arcane explanation for it.

Ultimately we don't know the exact workflow for the development of the universe and the earth, but something tells me that it couldn't be reflected exactly as it would have unfolded; and definitely not by the author(s) of Genesis or any other holy writer.

These Scriptures have a different function and their admixture doesn't bring us any close to objective truth. I thank God for the enlightenment!

Too funny. My kids just returned from their first day at VBS and they were told the story of Adam and Eve. My youngest is convinced that this is what that story is about. So the origin of our species seems to trump creation anyway - at least for the VBS folk at the Met. We are such an arrogant species. I'm also not quite sure why they wanted to start with the second creation story anyway, unless they are planning on laying the guilt of it all on my kids without even hinting at the goodness of Creation. Guess I'll have my deprogramming work cut out for me.

LOL! I have come across some very positive theologies of creation lately. Frank, we must get together soon brother! :-)
